1. Information We Collect

When you create an account, we collect your email address, display name, and profile image. If you sign in via Twitch, we receive your Twitch username and public profile information through OAuth. We also collect video files you upload for clip processing.

When you connect social media accounts (YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, X), we receive OAuth access tokens and basic profile information (username, profile picture, account ID) from those platforms. We use these tokens solely to publish content on your behalf.

We automatically collect usage data including pages visited, features used, clip processing activity, and publishing history. We also collect device information such as browser type, operating system, and IP address for security and analytics purposes.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your information to provide the Almeda clipping service: processing your video clips, generating captions via AI transcription, and publishing to connected social platforms on your behalf. We also use your information to manage your account, process payments, send service-related communications, and improve the platform.

We do not sell your personal data to third parties. We do not use your content to train AI models. Your video content is processed solely to deliver the clipping and editing features you request.

3. Data Storage and Security

Your account data is stored in a secure PostgreSQL database with encrypted connections. Video files and processed clips are stored in encrypted cloud object storage (AWS S3). OAuth tokens for connected social accounts are encrypted using AES-256-GCM before being stored in our database. All data in transit is encrypted via TLS/HTTPS.

We implement industry-standard security measures including encrypted storage, secure authentication, access controls, and regular security monitoring to protect your data.

4. Third-Party Services

We integrate with the following third-party services, each governed by their own privacy policies and terms of service:

  • Twitch - Authentication and account linking
  • YouTube (Google) - Publishing clips as YouTube Shorts. Governed by the Google Privacy Policy and YouTube Terms of Service
  • TikTok - Publishing clips to TikTok. Governed by the TikTok Privacy Policy
  • Instagram (Meta) - Publishing clips as Instagram Reels. Governed by the Instagram Privacy Policy
  • X (formerly Twitter) - Publishing clips to X. Governed by the X Privacy Policy
  • Stripe - Payment processing. We do not store your credit card details.
  • OpenAI - Audio transcription (Whisper) for caption generation. Only audio data is sent; no personal information is shared.

We only share the minimum data required for these integrations to function. When you disconnect a social account, we revoke the associated tokens and delete them from our database.

5. Google API Services and YouTube Data

When you connect your YouTube (Google) account to Almeda, we access your YouTube channel information and use the YouTube API Services to publish video clips on your behalf. Almeda's use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

What Google data we access: Your YouTube channel name, channel ID, and the ability to upload videos on your behalf via the YouTube Data API.

How we use it: Solely to publish clips you create in Almeda to your YouTube channel as YouTube Shorts, and to display your connected channel name within the Almeda dashboard. We do not use Google user data to train artificial intelligence or machine learning models.

How we store it: OAuth access and refresh tokens are encrypted using AES-256-GCM and stored in our secure database. We do not store YouTube video content or YouTube analytics data on our servers.

Who we share, transfer, or disclose Google user data to: We do not sell, rent, trade, or otherwise transfer Google user data to any third party, including advertising platforms, data brokers, or information resellers. We do not use Google user data for serving ads, retargeting, personalized advertising, or interest-based advertising. We do not use Google user data to determine creditworthiness or for lending purposes. Google user data is shared only with our cloud infrastructure provider (Amazon Web Services) as a necessary part of operating the service, and these providers are contractually obligated to protect your data. No human at Almeda reads your Google user data unless you provide affirmative consent, it is necessary for security purposes, or it is required by law.

Retention and deletion: When you disconnect your YouTube account from Almeda, we immediately revoke and delete the associated OAuth tokens. When you delete your Almeda account, all Google user data is deleted within 30 days.

You can revoke Almeda's access to your Google account at any time via Google's security settings. For information about how Google handles your data, please review the Google Privacy Policy.

6. Cookies and Tracking

We use essential cookies to maintain your session and authentication state. These are strictly necessary for the service to function and cannot be disabled. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party tracking cookies. We may use basic analytics to understand how the service is used and to improve it.

7. Data Retention

We retain your account data for as long as your account is active. Processed video clips and outputs are retained until you delete them from your account. When you delete your account, we delete all associated personal data, video files, and clip outputs within 30 days. Some data may be retained in encrypted backups for up to 90 days.

OAuth tokens for disconnected social accounts are deleted immediately upon disconnection. Publishing history and analytics data are deleted when you delete your account.

8. Children's Privacy

Almeda is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If we become aware that we have collected personal data from a child under 13, we will take steps to delete that information promptly. If you believe a child under 13 has provided us with personal data, please contact us at the email below.

9. Your Rights

You have the right to access, correct, or delete your personal data at any time. You can delete your account and all associated data from your account settings. You can disconnect social accounts and revoke OAuth access individually. You can request a copy of your data by contacting us at the email below.

If you are located in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have additional rights under the GDPR, including the right to data portability, the right to restrict processing, and the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority. If you are a California resident, you have rights under the CCPA, including the right to know what personal information is collected and the right to request deletion.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes via email or in-app notification. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
